Used for internal drainage from the ureteropelvic junction to the bladder while maintaining external access to the stent. Cope Nephroureterostomy Stents are not intended to remain indwelling more than 90 days.


The Cope Nephroureterostomy Stent is constructed of Ultrathane• and comes in two variations. Products with an "-A' suffix in their order numbers have sideports in the loops only, and are used for bypassing lacerated ureters. Products with a "43' suffix in their order numbers have sideports in the loops and in the entire distal segment, and are used for all other stenting purposes. Both "A' and '1" stents are available with the Mac Loc' Locking Loop.

INTENDED USE

The Cope Nephroureterostomy Stent is delivered percutaneously and is intended to establish internal drainage from the ureteropelvic Junction to the bladder while maintaining external access to the stent. The Cope Nephroureterostomy Stents are not intended to remain indwelling more than 90 days. 


CONTRAINDICATIONS

This device is contraindicated in the presence of conditions which create unacceptable risk during catheterization.

PRECAUTIONS

• This product is intended for use by physicians trained and experienced in placement of nephroureterostomy stents. Standard techniques should be employed.

• This product is intended for use in adult patients only.

• Manipulation of product requires fluoroscopic control.

• A PTFE-coated wire guide must be used with this product.

• Activate hydrophilic coating, if present, by wetting surface of device with sterile water or saline. For best results, maintain wetted condition of device during placement.

• Where long-term use is indicated, it is recommended that indwelling time not exceed 90 days and that the physician evaluate the catheter before this time has expired

Potential adverse events

The complications that may result from the use of these devices include, but are not limited to:

• Extravasation

• Urinary tract infection

• Perforation or laceration of the kidney, renal pelvis, ureter, and/or bladder

• Abrasions

• Sepsis

• Hemorrhage
